Introducing UNION – The Opposite House’s New Lobby Bar
This summer, The Opposite House launched its new lobby bar — UNION, a bar exuding elegance and comfort. The showcase of artwork and architecture reveals the 20th century modernist sensibility, demonstrating a balance of ceremony and warmth. UNION also creates a sense of belonging by leading us through the discovery of customized and authentic experiences created by the art pieces.
Designed by AvroKO and inspired by the ancient Silk Road, UNION has been fixed with copper architectural frames and metal mesh sheets, showcasing the vintage sculptures and drawings. Guests can discover the hidden elements such as the bar trolley, spicery wall and DJ booths that enable a seamless transition from day to night.
The interior design of UNION is greatly influenced by potter Lucie Rie’s 20th century modernist studio. AvroKO integrated the simple elegance of well-executed hospitality into the bar, creating a space that enables exceptional levels of service and functionality, further escalating the guest experience.
UNION’s sophisticated drinks menu offers a refined experience that celebrates the flavours, ingredients, customs and drinking tradition of the Silk Road. Both alcoholic and non-alcoholic creations encapsulate a diverse range of flavours; alcoholic menu includes Genghis Khan Martini (Mongolian representation) with French Gin, Mongolia Milk Wine, Dry Vermouth, Elderflower, Coconut and Sea Salt; whilst non-alcoholic creations include Spring Breeze (a representation of Eastern Chinese flavours) with a mixture of pear, vanilla, coconut, citric acid and sea salt.
Stay tuned as more new spaces in the House will be unveiled throughout the remainder of 2019.
